BALEBREAKER

Design, Development

A playful, interactive AR branding experience for a craft beer brewery.

Augmented Reality for social media platforms poses different challenges than in app development. This exploration was my initial dive into SparkAR, the software for Instagram/Facebook AR "filters", to unfold the process and work within these constraints.

DEVELOPMENT (SparkAR, Cinema4D, Illustrator)

Inspired by the original can's cover, I illustrated a colorful farm scene that included the brewery from their Yakima, WA location. All the background elements were separated into 3D layers to provide parallax as well as secondary animation in the scene. I modeled a simplified baler and animated it procedurally within SparkAR.

When the target marker (the balebreaker can) is first found by pointing your camera at it, 3D type animates in. A touch gesture reveals / hides the animated scene "within" the can.
